Hello Doreen,

It can be hard to stay positive and not think negative, it takes a lot of work to catch these thoughts  and change them into positive thinking. I also agree with Davit, you seem to have a lot on your plate, so not sure if what you are experiencing is Anxiety / Stress / Depression or rather a combination of all three.

When you do have negative thoughts you should challenge them. Try asking yourself these questions:

1. Is it "true"?
2. How do I know it’s true?
3. Is it 100% true? (remember something that is 75% or 99% true is
    not 100% true)
4. What's the evidence for it being true?
5. What’s the evidence against it being true?
6. Has it ever happened before?
7. What's different now?
8. If it were true, how bad would it really be?
9. What's the worst thing that could happen?

10. If the worst thing happened, how bad would it really be?

You might find that these thoughts are not true at all, which may help you think more positively.

Let us know if this helps, and come back often to let us know how you are doing.

It takes a while for a traumatic event to settle down and a long time for it to disappear. Do you have medication? You are trying to work to many things at once here. Drop every thing but the pain and say out loud at the same time you write it. "this pain is panic it is Ok" do it over and over till you accept it and then add something else and say something positive and write it down. If this isn't enough positive thought to control it then you will have to talk to your doctor about meds. Talking and writing are distracting and reinforcing at the same time and work but you have to do one at a time or the negative thought from the others will crowd it out. Try it and let me know what happens. Oh and if you are consuming caffeine you should cut it for a while. Also do you have relaxing tools like box breathing. If you do it also at the same time you might be able to control the negative thought.

Davit.

Hello everyone,
I've been trying to stay positive and not think negative. However, it just seems that my head is so stuck in the "pains" that I feel. I have this tension on my back, and chest. I try to get my mind from thinking about the tension by playing some video games. But that has not really helped. So some of you know how my anxiety all started. It all happened due to a traumatic event. I got my heart broke and held on to so much anger. Which only lead to depression and feeling more angry. Then bam...out of no where I got attacked. I held on to so much anger because my ex b/f wouldn't want to talk things out. So finally we were able to talk some things out. Since that happened, I started to think that I'll get a lot of relief off my chest. I did for a moment. It's just trying to let go of the past. I'm struggling to let go of the past, just like I'm struggling of letting go of the anxiety. I always think to myself that if I get better. It's going to hit me hard one of these days and I'll really have a heart attack. Of course that's negative thinking. But, that feeling or thought is so strong. Because I've had the chest tightness all day. I guess doing something I used to do with the ex is only making my chest tight. Is there a way I can play a video game without thinking of him or my anxiety? Is it Anxiety/Stress/Depression?
